We want every person to be visible and heard in public space!
The foundation’s mission is to protect the rights of people who are socially excluded or discriminated by systems, especially because of their gender or orgin. We share their stories and viewpoints so they are seen and heard in public life, and feel confident in their own voice and power to act. We respond to urgent crises, while also working toward long-term, systemic change.
Our activities
We operate in three sections that pursue our goals in different forms.

Our history
How did The Visible Foundation start?

It all began on October 22, 2020.
The Constitutional Tribunal issued a ruling banning abortion for women with fetal defects. Like many Polish people, we took to the streets that day. After the protest, a group of five friends met for tea and wondered what we could do as completely independent citizens.
That night, we decided to hold a sit-in.
Using materials we had at home, we created a makeshift banner with the words "Take Care of the Pandemic – Leave the Choice to Women." At 7 a.m., we went to the square near the PiS (Law and Justice) parliamentary office. Soon, a lot of people joined us – some came to work shifts under the banner, others brought us thermoses of hot tea, and still others just dropped in to chat. It turned out that there were many people like us in Pomerania – people with deep discord and eager to get involved.
We stood in front of the PiS office from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day for several months. During this time, we also undertook other activities. Together with other organizations in Gdańsk, we organized collective protests and submitted protests to the European Court of Human Rights.

However, we felt it was time for new action.
Protesting is very important to us, but it is only one form of action for equality.
On July 8, 2021, we founded the Visible Foundation.
